Joseph, James' father, Robinson and James are the only McCoy families found in Pike County in 1840.

Correspondence between Webster & Lyon, Attorneys at Law in Paso Robles and Mrs. Ida J. Fallman, Paso Robles, CA, dated 20 Apr 1923, states that he had records examined in Fairfield, Solano County, for the estate of James McCoy. The probate was begun there in 1887 and the estate was distributed and closed in 1891. Copy of final distribution in possession of author. Copies of both the final and the correspondence obtained from Gladys Luck.
His estate consisted of real estate - the North half of S20 and the southeast quarter of S17, all in T5N R1W, MDB&M in Solano County,containing 480 acres more or less and personal property valued at $644.51 in cash, 3 wagons, farming utensils, harness, 18 stock cattle,7 calves, 6 mules, 7 horses, 4 colts, household and kitchen furniture,sewing machine and poultry.
