"MRS. FRED DEINES
Maria Magdelena, the daughter of George Adam and Katherina ElizabethMai, nee Frickel was born August 14, 1880 at Ehrenfeldt Russia anddeparted this life at her home 310 South Maple Street in Russell,Kansas on April 28, 1956 at the age of 75 years, 7 months and 13 days.
In early infance she was baptized and later at Friendenfeldt Russiashe was confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She remained a true andfaithful member of the church until her death. In October 1899 shecame with her parents to Mexico where after a short stay they came toAmerica and settled in Russell County in 1900. On August 8 1901 shewas united in marriage to John Fredrick Deines in the Lutheran Churchat Milberger, Kansas. There were six children born to this union.Together with her husband she went through all the hardships and caresof rearing her family at their farm home 11 miles southwest ofRussell. In 1947 she was stricken with a paralytic stroke and after astay in the Russell Hospital she was returned to her farm home. Abouttwo years ago she and her husband and daughter Elizabeth moved toRussell. She has been bedfast ever since she suffered this stroke butwith the loving care of her children (especially the daughterElizabeth) and her husband she remained patient and cheerful. She wasalways glad to see and shake the hand of all who came to see herduring the 8-1/5 years that she was helpless.
To treasure her memory are her husband, J. Fred Deines; five children:Bernhardt Deines, Elizabeth Deines, Mrs. Sarah Michaelis all ofRussell, Mrs. Pauline Fabrizius and Mrs. Meriam Deines of WaKeeney,Kansas; one brother, Peter Mai, WaKeeney, Kansas; 13 grnadchildren, 8great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. One daughterRufina preceded her in death."
