"History of Pike County" has a biographical sketch. It says, BenjaminF. Amos, farmer and stock-raiser, was born in Pike county, 11 Aug1832, a son of Mordecai and Sarah Amos. His youth was spent inassisting on the farm and attending school. In 1852 he went toCalifornia where he engaged in mining for about 8 years with goodsuccess, after which he returned to Pike county, where he engaged infarming which avocation he has since followed. He was married 28 Aug1861 to Miss Eliza W., a daughter of William and Jane Fielder of Pikecounty. By this union were ten children, eight of whom are stillliving: Francis M., Ida J., Edward B., James H., Dollie, Bessie,Allibam and John G. Mr. Amos and wife are members of the ChristianChurch of which he has held the office of deacon since 1873. He has afine farm, a part of the old homestead, containing 132 acres of goodland."
In the 1900 census, Benjamin had living in his home two grandchildren,Harry Amos, 7, born Aug 1892 born MO, and Opal M. Amos, 6, born Aug1893 in MO.
