"Mrs. Esther Ellen King, 83, widow of the late Royal T. King, diedWednesday afternoon at 1:00 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs.John Huggins, 1126 [112? - smudged] west McDonald street, following ashort illness with complications. Death was due to heart trouble.
Mrs. King is survived by three half brothers, Isack Landers, Portland;Thomas Landers, Ridgeville; and James Landers, of Bryant, Ind.. In herimmediate family she is survived by four children, Irvin King, Eaton;Laura Huggins of this city. Charles King, Bryant, Ind. and Ralph Kingof Portland, Fifteen grandchildren and twenty-eightgreat-grandchildren also survive.
Esther Ellen King was born January 24, 1847, in Dark [sic] County,Ohio, the only daughter of Thomas and Ollie Landers, both deceased. In1849, when she was two years old, she moved from Dark County, Ohio toPennville with her parents. She had lived in Pennville since that timeuntil about four weeks ago, when she came to this city to spend thewinter months with her daughter. The deceased was married September 4,1869 to Royal T. King of Pennville. To this union were born sixchildren, four of whom are living, and two deceased. The two childrenwho preceded their mother in death were Judy and Mertie King.
The late Mrs. King was well loved by all who knew her, and herfriendship was cherished by all who profited from associations withher. Although she was not a member of any social organization, she wasalways actively engaged in the affairs of the Bethel Brethren church,of which she was a member.
Funeral services will be held at the Wesleyan Methodist church, ofthis city, Saturday morning at 10 o'clock, with Rev. J. W. Crow,pastor in charge. Until that time friends may view the remains at thehome of her daughter in west McDonald street.
Burial will be made at Pennville."
