"Death Claims A. D. Jackman
Alva D. Jackman, 61, secretary-manager of the Wasco Chamber of Commerce for the past three years, died Sunday morning in a Bakersfield hospital where he was confined two weeks ago following a heart attack.
A native of Wienfield, Kan., Mr. Jackman had been a civil service employe [sic] of the government at Pearl Harbor, T.H., during the war. He retired from government service because of his heart and came to Wasco in 1945.
He is survived by his widow, Gertrude, two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Mahin, Buellton, and Mrs. Rosemary Messinger, Bakersfield, and a son, Eugene, of Sloat, Calif., and a sister, Mrs. Ruth L. Haines, Neodisha, Kan., and four grandchildren.
Masonic services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Robert L. Jones Funeral Home, Wasco, and the body will be sent to Wamego, Kan., for interment."
