"SUDDEN DEATH AT ONWARD
Coroner M. B. Stewart was called to Onward this afternoon by thesudden death of John S. [sic] Hopper, which occurred at 2:30 today, athis home one mile south of Onward. Deceased had returned from a saleheld on a neighbor's about a half hour before being suddenly stricken.Dr. A. C. Badders, physician at Onward, was summoned and pronounceddeath due to acute dilitation of the heart. Life was extinct when thedoctor arrived. Deceased had been subject to these attacks during hislifetime." Copy in file.

"SUDDEN DEATH OF JOHN HOPPER
While negotiating the sale of a team of horses, John S. Hopper, 54years old, well known Cass county farmer residing a mile south ofOnward dropped dead in the barn at his home Tuesday afternoon about2:30 o'clock death being due to acute dilation of the heart. Hopperhad been to the Manna Baker sale and when it was postponed in thecompany of two other men went to his home to look at a team of horseswhich he had for sale. After falling, he was carried to his home, andDr. A. C. Badders of Onward was called. Life was extinct when thephysician arrived. Unable to get Coroner Stewart by wire, a letter waswritten to him and received yesterday which informed him of the death. He viewed the remains at the home yesterday. Deceased is survived byone son, his widow and three daughters. The funeral will be heldtomorrow from the residence and burial will be in the Mays cemetery."Copy in file.
