"Rites Set for Victim of Crash -
Funeral services for Mrs. Lavina Mehrten, who was killed yesterday ina car-pickup crash at the intersection of Highways 198 and 65, will beheld Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the Hadley Funeral Chapel in Exeter.
Burial will be in the Woodlake Cemeter.
E. R. Connelly will officiate at the services.
Mrs. Mehrten, 64, wife of prominent Three Rivers cattleman DavidMehreten, was a native of Visalia. She attended the Taurusa GrammarSchool.
Mr. and Mrs. Mehrten were married in Visalia on Nov. 19, 1917. Theyhad lived in Three Rivers since that time.
Mrs. Mehrten, who became the 18th traffic fatality of 1960, was killedwhen the car in which she was riding, driven by her husband,, wasstruck by a pickup driven by Cleo West Sr., 41, of Woodlake.
Mr. Mehrten was taken to the Exeter Memorial Hospital with majorinjuries while 10-year old Lynn Mehrten was taken to the same hospitalwith minor injuries. West was injured slightly but was nothospitalized.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Mehrten is survived by three sons,David Ralph Mehrten of Sepulveda, Lawrence Dale Mehrten of Sepulvedaand Gordon G. Mehrten of Lemon Cove; two daughters, Mrs. MildredDawson of Visalia and Mrs. Bernice Henderson of Exeter; a sister, Mrs.Josephine Killingbeck of Visalia; two brothers, Harlan Hicks ofVisalia and Orrie Hicks of Visalia; and seven grandchildren."
