Catharine Frances Annie GRIFFITH

Much information on this family from unverified gedcoms atancestry.com. One did have some supporting comments, quoted here:
"Married Nov 12, 1867, near Louisiana, Pike Co., Missouri. Went toColorado for 2 years in 1873. Returned to Missouri by wagon, remainingfor 5 years. The family left by train to Elko, Nevada, where theyjoined a wagon train and came north through southern Idaho, easternOregon, to Washington Territory, arriving near Rosalia in October,1880.
Sanford and Catherine Riggs homesteaded and lived 3 1/2 miles east ofRosalia, WA., engaged in farming. In 1900 they moved into Rosalia. Shedied Sep. 14, 1915; Sanford Riggs passed away on Feb. 14, 1929. Theyare buried in the family plot in the IOOF cemetary at Rosalia. SamuelMartin Riggs and his wife, Nanacy Margaret Griffith Riggs, (a sisterof Catherine Griffith Riggs), are also buried in the family plotthere.
Quoting Miriam Riggs Kammerzell, daughter of Charles E. Riggs:
"I am sure that the Riggs and Griffith families are of Welsh origin.The Griffith Family came to Missouri from Kentucky, I have been told.So did the Amos-Mulharrin families. Our grandmother, CatherineGriffith Riggs, told Aunt Bessie that her great-grandmother wascaptured by Indians with her baby and two older sons, in Kentucky. Sheescaped with the baby, but the two boys remained with the Indians forsome time. When they finally came home they acted as Indians, even tohaving their ears split lengthwise." The baby must have been JohnGriffith, our great-grandfather."
