Samuel Thornton Fidler affidavit says that Rev. Noah was born in Mercer Co., NJ. Donnadeane Depew had Hunterdon County.
Complete probate packet obtained at Clerk of Probate Court 1 May 2015. One document was:
"Troy Jan. 12, 1851 Miama [sic] Co. Ohio
I have this Engaged of Jos Strickler one Set of No. 1 Rutland Marble Grave Stone Head Stone 5 foot high 20 in wide foot stone In proportion Inscribed as follows
Noah Fidler in circle Born in _________ with Rose Branch Between Borns Name Born in Hunterdon Co N.J. Dec 31 1778 Died Sept 25 1849 with Drapery & Rose Reath finished in the Best Stile with Base & verse. Delivered & Set up in Good order in the Grave Yard in Troy this coming [?] for which sum to forty Dollars on delivery. W. K. Fidler."
Looking at the stone, it appears the intent was to have all of the inscription within an oval and between Noah's name and the word "Born" is a rose branch. Around the outside is a drapery with tassels. The verse is not legible in the photo.
