Not proven that this is the correct wife. We know that Aaron is thefather of Aaron Delong, and that Solomon is another son, but not forsure who the wife is.
1783 Hopewell Township, Washington County, PA. Tax list shows AaronDelong with 300 acres. 3 horses, 3 cows, 6 sheep, value 99Pennsylvania pounds. From "The 1783 Tax Lists and the 1790 FederalCensus for Washington County, Pennsylvania", by Katherine K. Zinsserand Raymond M. Bell, 1988, Heritage Books, Inc., Bowie, Maryland.According to the book, in 1782, the tax rate was about 5 pence perpound, thus a man with a property value of 48 pounds paid one pound($2.66) in state taxes. 1 pound = 20 shillings = 240 pence. Aaron Jr.and Solomon were also included in this tax list. Copied all ofHopewell Twp. to show neighbors.

Tax listfor Washington Co., PA, lists Aaron Delong in Hopewell, 1785 and1793. No details given of property or amount taxed. Probably AaronSr., since Aaron Jr. was in Ohio by 1793.

The 1817 tax listfor Waterford shows 100 acres, lot 21, then owned by William Ireland,S 16 T5 R 10 also shows Aaron "Delany Sr." as original proprietor. Inaddition, 100 acres, lot 21, then owned by Peter Sackle, S16 R5 R10,original proprietor as Aaron Delong Sr.

Aaron born in Germany mid 1720's. In 1772 he migrated to Pa perhaps asearly as 1768. He settled in Buffalo Creek, Washington County Pa theclaimed by Va. On Sep 24, 1777 Aaron took Oath of Allegiance Ohio CoWVa. In 1780 he applied for a ear-mark for indentifying his livestock." On the motion of Aron Delong, ordered that his mark a crop off theright ear and under slope in the left ear be recorded." (Minute Bookof Virginia Court for Ohio County Court held at Black's Cabin, nowWest Liberty WVa 1777-1780 p. 72. In 1781 land in Buffalo Creek wassurveyed Jan 18. Hopewell Twp Washington Co., tax list, 1 horse, and 3cattle. In 1783 Aaron Delong was charged for "one bowl" perhaps punchor toddy. (Account book of Charles Wells tavernkeeper, shoemaker andcattle dealer, at what became known as Wellsburg, later Buffalo in theWVa panhandle. Confusion in this description for Wellsburg is today inWVa a few miles west of the Pa-Va line while Buffalo is a few milesEast of Pa. Aaron's land was inbetween abutted the line on the Paside. In 1785 Aaron Sr, Aaron Jr and Solomon sold Wash Co., land Feb7. Survey map of Independence Twp. Wash Co., shows that 137 acres ofland was surveyed Jul 9 having been aquired on the VirginiaCertificate. Possible same land as listed for Buffalo Creek 1772 and1781, and Hopewell Twp in three tax lists 1780-1793. Sold WashingtonCo. land Feb 22, 1794. In 1794 Aaron Jr had settled at the Olive GreenSettlement in Washington Co., Ohio. "In the fall of 1794, Delong theDutchman of our garrison went to western Pa and brought with him hisfather who was very old and feeble and had some property. Aaron Jrsaid on his return that he would make out well by the trip if hisfather died in any reasonable time. (Ohio Archaeological HistoricalSociety Pub.)
