"Ovie Ray Chism, 86, of El Dorado Springs, passed away Thursdayafternoon, Aug. 31, 1989, at the Cedar County Memorial Hospital in ElDorado Springs.
Mr. Chism was born Jan. 26, 1903, at Cane Hill, the son of William andCynthia Underwood Chism. Five brothers and five sisters preceded himin death.
On Dec. 13, 1923, Mr. Chism was united in marriage to Willa A. Tolbertin Bolivar. To this union, six children were born: Emma Jean Fidler ofFair Play, Joe Chism of Lamar, and William Chism, Evelyn Esry, AnnSchaaf and James Chism, all of El Dorado Springs.
Mr. Chism was a farmer in Cedar County for a number of years beforemoving to El Dorado Springs in 1971. He was a member of the Oak GroveBaptist Church in Fair Play. Family and friends were always the mostimportant things to him. He loved to fish and enjoyed gardening andflowers.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 3, at the HacklemanChapel with the Rev. Larry Nail officiating. Musical selections wereprovided by Mike and Linda Jamison.
Interment was in the Lindley Prairie Cemetery under the direction ofthe Hackleman and Sons Funeral Home. Pallbearers were grandsons: BobbyJoe Chism, David Chism, Warren Chism, Gary 'Esry, Kent Esry, Mark Esryand Brian Chism."
