Lloyd "Bucky" Willis Buchanan, 90, of 2120 Beech St., passed awaySaturday, Aug. 27, 2005, at his residence.

Mr. Buchanan was born in Covington, Ohio, and was the husband ofJuanita White Skinner Buchanan. He was the son of the late Mr. andMrs. H.W. Buchanan and was a retired electrical engineer fromWestinghouse
Electric. A member of Market Street Presbyterian Church in Elida,Ohio, he attended East Gaffney Baptist Church, where he was a memberof the choir. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Mr. Buchanan graduated from Purdue University and received a master'sof science degree from the University of Pittsburgh. He was the authorof two articles in "Handbook of Electric Motors." He invented andreceived a patent for a reversible capacitor motor. Mr. Buchanan was amember of AIEE and the Ohio Society of Professional Engineers.

Mr. Buchanan was an avid bicyclist, completing 200-mile trips for thelast 25 years, his final trip being at the age of 80.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Phyllis Buchananof Maine and Sat Kirtan Kaur Khalsa of California; two stepdaughters,Jan Skinner Queen and Mary Ann Skinner Blair, both of Gaffney; threestepsons, Ben Skinner, Joe Mac Skinner and Bob Skinner, all ofGaffney; and a sister, Rosalee Thompson of Ohio.

In addition to his father, Mr. Buchanan was preceded in death by astepson, Steve Skinner.

The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at EastGaffney Baptist Church. Funeral services will be immediately followingat 11 a.m. at the church, conducted by the Rev. Ron Jackson and Mr.Joe Mac Skinner. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to East Gaffney BaptistChurch, 2308 Cherokee Ave., Gaffney, S.C. 29340.

The family is at the residence.

GAFFNEY, SC -- Lloyd "Bucky" Willis Buchanan, 90, of 2120 BeechStreet, passed away, August 27, 2005, at his residence.

Mr. Buchanan was born in Covington, OH, a son of the late H. W.Buchanan and the husband of Juanita White Skinner Buchanan. He wasretired from Westinghouse Electric, where he was employed as anElectrical Engineer. A member of Market Street Presbyterian Church,Elida, OH, he attended East Gaffney Baptist Church, Gaffney, SC, wherehe was a member of the choir. He was an Army Veteran of World War II.

He graduated from Purdue University and received a Master of ScienceDegree at the University of Pittsburgh. He was the author of twoarticles in Handbook of Electric Motors.
