Roger Earl BROWN

Obituary was published in the Porterville Evening Recorder on 29 Sep 1990. "A graveside service is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Monday at Hillcrest Memorial Park for Roger Earl Brown, 57, who died at home Friday after a long illness. The Rev. Warren Taylor of First Congregational Church in Porterville will officiate.
Mr. Brown was born in Porterville and was a resident of Porterville. He worked for Tulare County agricultural commissioner's office for 30 years. He served in the U.S. Navy Reserve for eight years.
He attended Porterville schools and was active in 4-H and was president of Vandalia 4-H club.
He graduated from Porterville high School and Porterville College,where he was president of his graduating class. He also attended Fresno State. In 1953, he married Barbara Hawkins.
Mr. Brown began as a survey crew member for the Tulare County Agricultural Commissioner's office in 1955. He was promoted to field inspector in the Terra Bella district and served as deputy commissioner for 14 years.
Mr. Brown was a member of many agricultural clubs, boards and committess. Upon his retirement, he entered into a brokerage with his brother, Adair Brown, and Roy Hall.
He was a member of Tulare County Retired Employees Association and A.A.R.P. and enjoyed traveling.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Brown of Porterville; two daughters, Marcia Brown and Kerry Brown, both of Porterville; one brother, C. Adair Brown of Porterville; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
