PAULINE VINCENT, 81
Pauline Vincent, 81, of Grinnell, died on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011, at the Mayflower Health Care Center.
A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Dec. 2, at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell with Jason Anderson officiating. Casket Bearers were Jason Anderson, Dale James, Troy James, David Massengale, Dwight Triplett and Yance Woody. Interment will be in the Searsboro Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Pauline Vincent Memorial Fund and sent in care of the funeral home.
Pauline was born on Sept. 25, 1928, in Montezuma, to Kenneth and Geneva Hockey Tish. She was raised in Montezuma and attended Montezuma schools.
On Dec. 20,. 1947, she was married to Alva J. Vincent in Marshalltown. The couple lived in Newton and she worked at the Maytag Company. They later lived in Searsboro, where she was a homemaker and mother of six children. In 1969, the family moved to Iowa City and operated Hawkeye Industries until their retirement in 1999. Following their retirement, they lived in Vinton and Grinnell.
Pauline enjoyed each season and what they had to offer. She also enjoyed attending craft shows and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by three daughters, Serita James of Gilmore, Texas, Madolyn (David) Massengale of Newton, and Venisa (Dwight) Triplett of Searsboro; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 29 great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Laverne Tish of Missouri; and two sisters, Dorothy Braaksma of Montezuma and Beulah Upah of Tama.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three children, Cary, Kevin and Denisa Vincent; and one brother, Dale Tish.
