"Ellis S. McDowell, 69, of 201 N. Church St., Pleasant Hill, died at 1:28 p.m. Wednesday at Stouder Memorial Hospital, Troy.
He was born in Miami County Sept. 6, 1914, a son of the late Oscar and Ella Smith McDowell. His wife, the former Doris Kline survives, along with two sons. Gary McDowell, West Milton and David McDowell, Parkersburg, W. Va.: a daughter, Mrs. Wallace Wadsworth (Patricia), New Carlisle: four grandchildren: and two brothers, George McDowell, Piqua, and Woodrow McDowell, Troy. A brother, Fred McDowell, preceded him in death.
Mr. McDowell was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Covington, a member and past master of Masonic Lodge 361, Pleasant Hill, and a member of Covington Chapter 275 Order of Eastern Star. He retired from the agriculture limestone business in 1980 after more than 40 years of service.
Services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Jackson Funeral Home, 1 S. Main St., Pleasant Hill, with the Rev. Lynn T. Williamson officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, Covington.
Mason services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Visitation will be Friday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home."
