Our mother's maiden name was Drusilla Austin. She was an amiable good woman who looked well to the affairs of her household and when father was sick or absent she attended his store. She could weigh and measure off goods and charge them on the books, and cast accounts with the ease and facility of a man of business. She died in the winter of 1813, aged about 48.
