"(2) Will of Cuthbert Webb, dated January 25, 1781, proved August 2, 1782. In BURTON CHRONICLES OF COLONIAL VIRGINIA, pub. 1933, pp.65-71, Francis Burton Harrison does not follow the descendants of John Burton [!1730-1799] beyond 1801. He states “This English line was evidently absorbed by marriages with the French Huguenots from nearby Manakin Town.” His treatment of two previous generations, starting in 1665 with John Burton and Elizabeth Fowler is more full. Another source treating several members of the third Burton generation is a review by James Branch Cabell in the William & Mary Quarterly, vol. 26, p.111ff. In the 4th generation, I’m researching Lucy Burton who m. 1806 George Hereford in Russell Co. KY. Additions, corrections and comments are welcome.
