Carol Hayes "Cubby" PangbornObituary

Carol Hayes "Cubby" Pangborn, 84, died Saturday at home. Born in Chicago,
she was the daughter of the late Birchard and Dorothy T. Hayes. Carol, a
longtime teller at Merchants Bank's Elmwood branch, was also a former
member of Elmwood Presbyterian Church and of the Mothers Club at
Elmwood Elementary, where she was instrumental in establishing the school
library.
A loving wife and mother and gentle friend, she was predeceased by her
husband of 52 years, Charles Walter Pangborn, and is survived by her daughter, Patricia Pangborn of
Connecticut; sons, Jim (Linda Remig) Pangborn of Hannibal and David (Amy) Pangborn of
Syracuse; brothers, Richard Hayes of Charlotte, NC, and J. Birchard Hayes of Washington, DC;
sisters, Molly McNamee of Wilmington, VT, Peggy Taylor of New Paltz and Libby Sass of
Syracuse; sister-in-law, Rita (Donald) Osborn of St. Petersburg, FL; grandchildren, Barclay Remig
and Matthew, Bob and Allison Pangborn; and several nieces and nephews. Carol also left behind one
mischievous beagle named Coppy (last in a long string of beloved pets) and innumerable loving
friends.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes, 300 Valley Drive,
Syracuse. Calling hours will be held Friday, 4 to 7 p.m., at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, Inc.,
4612 S. Salina Street, Syracuse.
