Andrew Jackson Pugh

Andrew was born in Truro Twp. Franklin Co. Ohio, He and Christina Woolf (1819-1879) were married September 27 1838 in Franklin Co. Ohio. The first 6 of their children were born in Ohio. They moved to Cedar Springs, Missouri in 1857 where 2 more children were born. He served during the Mexican war with a Regiment of Mounted Rifles from Ohio. He was wounded but served though out the war. In 1861 he joined the Union side and became a commander of Fremonts Scouts and Guides. The Fremont army was disbanded and he joined the 60th Reg. of Enrolled Missouri Militia and was commissioned Major in 1862. After the Civil War he was appointed Sheriff of St. Clair County but refused appointment and resigned. In 1875 Andrew and Christina moved to Cedar County. In 1879 Christina died. In 1882 Andrew remaried to Susan Jane (Fisher) Eslinger. Andrew died in 1898 and Susan Jane in 1917.
