Harold George Brown

George was stationed in Rosecrance Field, St, Joseph, MO. Then moved to Fairfax Field in Kansas City MO all in 1944. After that he went to Palm Springs, CA and Peggy went to Pittsburgh, pregnant with Pat. George then went to Homestead, FL then to Nashville, then to India where he flew B24s and DC3s over the Himalaya Mountains in the China-India-Burma Theater.

After the war George and Peggy moved to Hager City WI where they owned and operated a restaurant "Brownies" with brother Jack and sister-in-law Shirley. The family moved to Red Wing, MN and in August 1951 drove to Anchorage, AK in a 1949 Nash. The trip included George, Peggy, Patti, Johnny, dog Patrick as well as Cashmere "Cash" Gardas and his fiance, Doris __. Cash and Doris were married shortly after arriving Anchorage. The two families lived on Bragaw St. in Mt. View, then the Browns managed a trailer court before building a home at 411 Irwin St. where they lived till about November 1954. The next move was to Hager City, WI, briefly, then to Tucson, AZ on January 15, 1955 where they opened a restaurant called G'Brown's Drive Up. Lorelei was born the day after arriving in Tucson. When John Calvin "Jack" Brown died on March 6, 1955, the family drove to Hager City, sold the drive inn and returned to Anchorage. George worked construction (masonry), Peggy worked at the A&W and they saved money to start another restaurant, the "Lucky Wishbone", which opened 11-30-55.
