A Christian Newcomer, married to Anna Rohrer, is listed as being a private during the Revolutionary War. However, his birth and death dates do not match. The Daughters of the American Revolution Patriot Index - Centennial Edition, Part 2, page 2136, gives Christian Newcomer's birth date as 26 September 1756, and his death as 31 January 1832. Virginia Olwin also gave these dates, except his birth year was 1755.

Marriage
"Find A Grave" gave Christian Newcomer's wife as Anna Shank (1774-1855), daughter of John Shank (1752-1818) and Magdalena Molly Ellenberger Kaufman (1750-1822). To add to the confusion, only one child is listed for this Christian and Anna Shank, Henry Newcomer (1808-1883), but this child is not on the list from other sources.Birth
Christian Newcomer's birth date is unclear. Manley Mallet's date of 1765 has Christian born before his parents were married. The International Genealogical Index date of 1 February 1773 is only six months before his brother's (Joel) birth. Virgina Olwin gave Christian's birth date as 26 September 1775. Agnes Long gave 1777 as the year. Mabry Benson gave 29 May 1778. Samuel Hough in "Christian Newcomer: His Life Journal and Achievements" gave the year as 1779. "Find A Grave" gave 31 May 1779, but this is two weeks before the birth of his brother, Daniel.Death
Lee Garlock listed Christian Newcomer's death date as before 1832. In a family cemetery plot behind a farm house on Trovinger Mill Road, west of Chewsville, Maryland, there is a grave marker for a Christian Newcomer who died on 31 January 1832 at the age of 55. I cannot verify if the grave is that of this Christian Newcomer, but both the Daughters of the American Revolution and Virginia Olwin gave this date for Christian's death. Agnes Long gave 8 February 1832 as his death date. Mabry Benson, citing Washington County cemetery records, gave 14 Dec 1850 as Christian Newcomer's death date. "Find A Grave" concurs with Mabry Benson.Endnotes
