Jacob Erb Senior

Jacob Erb came to America on the Charming Nancy, along with his father, Niklaus. Originally from Switzerland, Jacob settled in the Middle Creek area of Ephrata and the Old Warwick Township, where he operated mills. He built the settlement of Clay. From 1787 to 1790, Nicholas served in the Pennsylvania General Assembly. He left the Mennonite Church during the Revolutionary War, and fought against King George.
