Matthais Gisch landed in America on 28 August 1733 aboard the ship, Pennsylvania Merchant. When he took his oath of allegiance to the King of Great Britain, he signed his name "Mattes Gisch."
In 1739 Matthass Gisch warranted 107 acres in White Oak, Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He was a farmer and a blacksmith. He and his family joined the White Oak Brethren congregation in 1742.
