Christian Gish Senior

(1734 - May 1796)

Christian Gish resided in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania before the Revolutionary War. At the beginning of the Revolutionary War he was a member of the Lancaster Couny Company of Associators. In 1777 he and three sons were members of Captain Alexander Peebles' company of the Cumberland County militia.

In 1792 and 1794, Christian Gish sold his Pennsylvania property and moved to Roanoke, Virginia--then known as Big Lick. He purchased land on Tinker Creek, Glade Creek and the Roanoke River, and was listed on the Botetcourt census for 1792.
