Peter "Elder" Bauman

(15 Feb 1762 - 2 Jan 1823)

Peter Bowman, a Brethren minister, wrote "Ein Zeugniss von der Taufe" [A Testimony on Baptism] around 1817. He was an elder in the Brethren Church in Rockingham Coutny, Virginia. Peter first settled at Dale Enterprises, near Harrisonburg, Virginia, in 1787. Three years later he moved five miles west to Little North Mountain on the War Bonnet Branch. He died in a hunting accident.

Peter Bauman/Bowman was listed as being a descendant of Jacob and Verena Bowman of Washington County, Maryland and of Rockingham County, Virginia by D. H. Zigler in his "History of the Brethren in Virginia" (1908).
