Frederick C. McComas

Frederick McComas lived in Springfield, Illinois for a few years from about 1841 to 1843. He then returned to Washington County, Maryland and farmed and ran a hardware store at various times. His business was known as Merritt & McComas.
Frederick McComas was arrested in 1863 by Confederate General Early. He and his fellow prisoners were exchanged for Confederates taken prisoner by the Union forces.
