Hans Neukommet, his wife Elis Burge/Berki and their two children were refugees from Eggiwil, Switzerland. On 14 December 1671 they were living in the Dirmstein District in the Pfalz and on 1 January 1672 they resided in Spiesheim, Alzey District. In both cases they were counted in the Anabaptist census taken by Mennonite ministers Valentine Hutwole and Georg Lichi used to help the Dutch Mennonites in Amsterdam to determine how much financial assistance to sent to benefit the refugees.
