Joel Samuel Clingenpeel

Joel Clingenpeel graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1934. He is a retired vocational agricultural teacher. He taught at Crewe High School in Burkeville, Virginia. He retired in 1974. He organized the perpetual care finances for the Sunset Hill Cemetery, and then managed its care for fifteen years. Joel also loved woodworking, and he made walnut chests and desks for all of his family members--hauling them as far away as Tennessee in a homemade trailer fashioned from a 1938 Ford truck rear axle. Joel Clingenpeel belonged to the Wards Chapel United Methodist Church, where he served as an elder and Sunday School Superintendent.
