Franklin Hoffmier Ankeney

Franklin Ankeney graduated from the Eaton and Burnett's Business College in Baltimore, Maryland in 1896. He worked as a bookkeeper in Baltimore and in Chicago, Illinois, before opening a stationary store with Clifford White (White & Ankeney) in Cumberland, Maryland.

A Democrat, Franklin Ankeney was appointed Supervisor of Elections for Allegany County in 1916. He belonged to the First Church of Christ, Scientist. Franklin also was a Past Master of the Fort Cumberland Lodge, No. 211, A.F.&A.M.; a member of the Salem Chapter, No. 18, Royal Arch Masons; a member of the Antioch Commandery, No. 6, Knights Templar; Past Venerable Master of Meredith Lodge of Perfection, No. 3; treasurer of Kedron Chapter, No. 3, Knights Rose Croix; and a member of the Cumberland Consistory, No. 2. The list goes on.

Franklin Ankeney served during World War I as traveling auditor for the Potomac Division, American Red Cross.
