Jacob Miller

(31 Dec 1782 - 6 Dec 1875)

Jacob Miller managed several farms, a grist mill, a saw mill and a flour mill. He lived in Sharpsburg, MD. He invented the seamless grain sack and the three-ply carpet.

Jacob Miller served as a county commissioner and as a state legislator for one term. He favored the South during the Civil War. He and members of his family were arrested during the Civil War and held in prison for three weeks at Harper's Ferry, West Virginia.

Williams, on page 661, listed 6 children of Jacob Miller and Catharine Rench; none are children listed by the Newcomers. I have relied on the Newcomers' list.
