Individual Details

Christian Eby Junior

(22 Feb 1734 - 15 Sep 1807)

Christian Eby, Jr., inherited his father's homestead, including the 1750s mill on Hammer Creek. Christian was a Deacon, but not a Bishop, as some have asserted. The stone house built in 1754 still exists on Hammer Creek at the intersection of Reifsnyder and Snavely Mill Roads in Elizabeth Township, Pennsylvania. The mill is know as Willow Bank Mill.
His neighbors and he supplied weekly milk and other necessities of life to disabled soldiers being cared for at the Brickerville Lutheran Church.
One source, but I cannot recall which, had Christian Eby, Jr. serving in the Pennsylvania 4th Company during the Revolutionary War, and being discharged in 1783 as a PFC. Allan Garber does not mention this, and I find it unlikely given his Mennonite faith.
