Hans Funk landed in Philadelphia on 23 September 1710. Like the others aboard the Mary Hope, he was of Swiss origins, but had most recently resided in Bonfeld, Palatinate, Germany. Hans Funk was one of the original settlers of the Pequea Colony in 1710. On 30 June 1711 he patented 530 acres in Strasburg Township, including the site of present-day Strasburg Mennonite Church. On 30 May 1715, Hans patented 250 acres in present-day Lampeter. By 1739 he resided in Orange County, Virginia.
