BIOGRAPHICAL:
Margaret Staberg Splitter wrote about her father, James Staberg, and her
grandparents, Ole and Julia Staberg, in a letter to Nancy Hawkinson in 1988.
"There is an interesting history about Grandma. When she came to
America, about 1881, her name was Gunhild Ingemoen. We don't know if she
changed it to Julia Anderson or if immigration officials did.
Julia Anderson was born in Valdres, Norway, January 29, 1860. She died
October 4, 1901. Grandpa died Jan. 19, 1925. They lived in South Still-
water (now called Bayport). Grandpa was in the lumber and sawmill industry.
They were Lutheran."
