Ellen Sigrid Staberg

John and Ellen's son, Ed Olson, wrote about his parents in 1974; Ellen Stageberg and Jonas Emauel Olson were married on November 19, 1902 in Stillwater, Minnesota. They lived in Lakeland for the first years of their married life while Jonas worked at the sawmill until they decided to buy a farm in Milaca, Minnesota where they brushed eighty acres for tillage. Ellen enjoyed knitting and crocheting and was clerk of the school board for 12 years. They celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary in 1952.

Ex-Hudsonite Dies in Milaca
Word was received in Hudson Thursdy of the death of a former resident, Mrs. John E. Olson, of Milaca, Minn. Mrs. Olson (Ellen Staberg) was a sister of the late Mrs. John B. Engstrom, Joseph and John Stayberg and has many Hudson relatives.
Ellen Staberg came to Hudson with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Staberg in 1898. She is survived by one sister, Bertina Sangsland of California and one son, E. Olson, four daughters and several grandchildren.
Funeral services were Monday afternoon at Milaca, where the Olsons had lived all of their married life. Mr. Olson died in February of 1962.

Funeral services for Mrs. John E. Olson were held from the Zion Lutheran Church on Monday, June 22, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Frank Lunn oficiating. Interment was made in the Forest Hill Cemetery.
Ellen Stageberg was born at Trondheim, Samt, Norway, on February 27, 1880, the daughter of Andreas and Sigrid Staberg. At the early age of four years she came with her parents to this country and located at Lakeland. Here she grew to womanhood and was confirmed in the Lutheran church. In 1902, shewas united in marriage to John E. Olson at Stillwater, Minnesota. After their marriage they resided in Minneapolis before coming to Milaca in 1908, where she has since lived. The past month Mrs. Olson has been a patient at the Elim Home in Princeton, where she passed away on June 18, at the age of 84 years, 3 months and 21 days.
Mrs. Olson is survived by three daughters: Mrs. Hilding Oslund (Anne) and Mrs. Lillian Currie of Minneapolis; Mrs. Oscar Rosenberg (Mabel) of Milaca. Also, seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Bertina Sangsland of Sacremento, Calif.; besides many friend. There was also the son, Edward. She was preceded in death by her husband, John in 1962, two daughters, Gladys in 1924 and Minnie in 1929.
Casket bearers were Ole Olson, Carl R. Olson, Andrew Olson, Edwin Olson, Einar Olson and Axel Olson.
