Death
Albert H. Johnson, 84, of Anamosa and formerly of Monticello, died Wednesday, April 23, 2003 at the Anamosa Care Center following an extended illness.Funeral services will be 10:30 am, Saturday, April 26, 2003 at St. Peter & Paul Lutheran Church, Monticello. The Rev. Rodney Underwood will officiate at the service. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Monticello. Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa. Albert H. Johnson was born December 2, 1918 in Delaware County. He was the son of Henry and Margaret Heiken Johnson. Albert attended school in the Castle Grove area. On November 23, 1943 Albert married Ruth Dirks at Wayne Zion Lutheran Church, Monticello. Albert farmed his entire career in the Monticello area. He was a life long member of St. Peter & Paul Lutheran Church in rural Monticello, where he held various office on the church council. Albert was an avid fisherman. He retired from farming in 1983.He is survived by his wife Ruth of Anamosa; two sons, Donald E. (Mae) Johnson of Monticello, Russell A. Johnson of Hopkinton; two daughters, Marlene (Jerry) Nagel, Laurie Johnson both of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Clarence; two sisters, Laura Montgomery and Irene Vittengle and a granddaughter, Marcy Nagel.Endnotes
