Individual Details
John Flanders
(1798 - )
The History of Ontario Co., NY, published in 1876, page 229: "David Knapp, from CT became a settler in 1790, and after making some improvements sold out to John Flanders, a carpenter, who erected many buildings in the neighborhood. He finally sold out and allegedly went to Michigan, but went to PA instead. In 1876, William Allen owned the farm. It is located in the Pan Handle area of Richmond, east of Honyeoye Lake. He is believed to be the same John Flanders, son of Jacob Adams Flanders, mentioned on the same page of the same book. This John Flanders is found in western PA in Burks Co., and married Mary Houser. Edith (Flanders) Dunbar thought that he might be the son of Jacob Flander of the Schoharie Valley, NY. His emergence from the region was due to his father relocating to western NY after the Revolution.
