BIOGRAPHY
Robert Husman age 92, died Friday, April 13, 2018 at the Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 Thursday morning, April 19, 2018 at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello where friends may register after 10:00. Pastor Gary Novak will officiate at the services. Millitary Honors presented by the United States Army. Private family interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery. Thoughts, Memories and Condolences may be left at www.goettschonline.com.
Surviving is a sister, Anne Marie (Luverne) Plueger, his brother, Jon (Donna) Husman, and special friends, the Mark and Deb Hein Family, Nick and Bridget Hein and family, Nathan and Joanna Hein and family, 9 nieces and nephews, Michael and Pat Plueger, Robert and Kris Plueger, David and Sherri Plueger, Ann and Sal Maniaci, Susan and Tom Appleby, Jeff and Kim Husman, Amy and Tim Lidster, Rebecca Husman and Jennifer Husman. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother James and his wife Dorothy and a special grandmother, Mary Eiben, Heiken.
Robert Paul Husman was born in Monticello, Iowa on January 23, 1926. He was the son of Henry E. and Christine Berniece Heiken, Husman. Bob graduated from the Monticello High School in 1943 and at the age of 17 began his teaching career in the rural schools of Jones County. While teaching he graduated from Coe College in Cedar Rapids and the University of Iowa. Bob served in the United States Army from 1951 until 1953. After 42 years of teaching he retired in 1987.
Bob was a life-long member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church. He loved to garden and raise flowers and enjoyed collecting antiques.
