Harm Edzards

(3 Mar 1828 - 6 May 1880)

Harm and Anke Edzards first settled on the property of her grandparents in Hesel o the "Alten Postweg.". But in 1868 they emigrated. The journey took 56 days due to stormy weather. Sadly the mother, Anke, died. The youngest child was not even one year old. Once in Iowa, Harm gave the youngest children to he wife's relatives. You will find Edzards in census records for both the Toel and Eilers families.
Harm remarried in 1870 to Luka Dirks. He was a Charter member of Wayne Lutheran Church
