Resolution honors George F. Specht
A resolution was passed during the special session of the Jones county board of supervisors last Thursday in memory of the late George Specht, county auditor for nearly 32 years.
The resolution reads as follows:
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS—Geo. F. Specht has
served the people of Jones county
since 1933 as their county auditor,
and
WHEREAS—His service to the
people has been long and efficient,,
he having devoted the latter years
of his life to filling the needs of,
the office, and
WHEREAS—During said term in
office he has long and faithfully
served the Board of Supervisors
of Jones county, and
WHEREAS—The Jones county
Board of Supervisors have reliably
depended upon said service, and
appreciate the help that was given
to them by Mr. Specht in the ful-
fillment of his office, now therefor,
BE FT RESOLVED—By the Board
of Supervisors of Jones county that
they herein express their ap-
preciation of the faithful service
rendered by Geo. F, Specht during
his lifetime in office.
That they convey herein to the
members of the family of Geo, F.
Specht their sympathy in their time
of sorrow.
That a copy of this resolution
be spread on the minutes of the
Jones county Board of Supervisors
and that a copy be sent to the
members of his family.

Death
George Specht dies suddenly; Was county auditor nearly 32 yearsANAMOSA-.-Funeral services for George F. Specht, 77, Jones county auditor for almost 32 years, were held Saturday afternoon at SS. Peter and Paul Lutheran church in Castle Grove township. The Rev. Richard Zellmer, church pastor, officiated. Burial was made In Prairie Hill cemetery, near Monticello. Mr. Specht died suddenly about 11:30 a.m. last Wednesday of a heart attack. He was at work in the board room in the Jones county courthouse at the time of his death, Mr. Specht, who was elected county auditor In 1932, was seeking re-election on the Democratic ticket In this year's general election. Prior to being elected to public office, Mr. Specht farmed In the Castle Grove area. He had lived in Anamosa since 1938. He was born June 22, 1887 in Castle Grove township, the son of Johann D. and Gertja Gerdes Specht. On Nov. 25, 1913, he was married to Helena Heiken. She preceded him in death in 1952. He was a member of the Anamosa Lions club, the Masonic lodge of Monticello and the El Kahir Shrine. He was a lifetime member of SS Peter and Paul church. Survivors include one son. Max of Monticello; one daughter, Mrs. W. F. (Loretta) Shurts of Winne- bago, Ill. , and 11 grandchildren. Three brothers preceded him in death.
Pallbearers for the services included Fred Kromminga, Everett Mayberry, Donald Robertson, Robert Black, Gene Taylor and Fred Geyken.
