PRAIRIEBURG - Mary D. Pillard, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fay Pillard of Monticello, became the bride of Paul B. Eiben, son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Eiben of Waubeek, in a double ring ceremony Thursday, June 2, at 9:30 a.m. i St. Joseph's Catholic church at Prairieburg.
The bride was given in marriage by her father.
The Rev. A. L. Zachar performed the ceremony. Altar boys were Darrell and Jackie Kintzle.
The bride wore a gown of white with points of Chantilly lace over a slipper satin skirt, yoke of nylon net and lace bodice with long tapered sleeves that buttoned at the wrist, and self covered buttons down the back. She wore a finger tip veil of nylon net caught to a tiara of pearls and carried a white prayer book, a gift of the bridegroom, which was topped with an orchid and white carnations with white streamers of lily of the valley.
MATRON OF HONOR
Lorraine Franklin of Marion, cousin of the bride, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Betty Pillard, sister of the bride, and Dorothy Vanourney of Central City. Their gowns were of Chantilly lace and net over taffeta in colors of lavender, yellow and nile green. They wore headbands of net and rhinestones to match their gowns. They carried colonial bouquets of white carnations. Gaylee Drahouse and Janice Kronlage were flower girls. Barry Tritle was ring bearer.
William Pillard, brother of the bride, was best man. Groomsmen were Deny Klein of South English and Lester Oellrich of Lisbon. Ushers were Merle Pillard and Donald Eiben.
MUSIC FOR SERVICE
Music for the service was played by Mrs. Bridge McCusker of Coggon; Eddy and Paul Brady sang.
The bride's mother wore an aqua dress with white accessories, and the bridegroom's mother wore a dress of navy blue with navy accessories. Both wore corsages of pink carnations.
A reception was given in the church hall at noon for about 275 guests. In the evening, a wedding dance was held at Armar.
TRIP TO WISCONSIN
The couple left on a wedding trip to the Wisconsin Dells, the bride wearing a grey and white dress with white accessories and an orchid corsage.
After June 6 they will live at Central City, Mrs. Eiben was employed by St. Luke's hospital and Mr. Eiben is employed by Allis Chalmers at Cedar Rapids.

Mary Darlene Eiben, 75, formerly of Marion, died Wednesday, April 1, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, following a sudden illness. Services: 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 4, 2009, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Prairieburg, by Father Wayne Droessler. The family will greet friends from 3 ?" 8 p.m., Friday, April 3, 2009, with a scripture service to begin at 3:00 p.m., at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Central City. Burial: Mt. Clark Cemetery, Central City.
Survivors include her children, Colleen Eiben-Prokop of Cedar Rapids, Faye Dudley of Cedar Rapids, Victoria Kircher of Gilcrest, Colorado, Paula Plotz of Blairstown, Juanita Eiben of Marion, Douglas Eiben of Prairieburg, and Gregory Eiben of Cedar Rapids; 1 brother, Merle Pillard of Central City; and 3 sisters, Betty Dennis of Loveland, Colorado, Joan Dudrey and Jean Smith, both of Marion; 18 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul; her brother, William Pillard, and a great-grandson, Kaleb Dudley.
Mary was born February 21, 1934, the daughter of Fay and Mary (Crowley) Pillard, in Prairieburg, Iowa. She graduated from Coggon High School in 1952 and later graduated from the school of Nursing in Marshalltown in 1954. She married Paul B. Eiben on June 2, 1955 at St. Joseph’s Church in Prairieburg. Mary worked as a nurse at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester for 24 ½ years. She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prairieburg and Altar and Rosary Society; served on the church council for 6 years and also as a Eucharistic minister for 6 years.
A memorial fund has been established in Mary’s memory.
