Hosea Alderman
(9 Mar 1791 - 21 Oct 1843)
HOSEA ALDERMAN "was a man well known. He was a Methodist in his religious belief and prominent in the affairs of the church. He was emphatically a peacemaker, and in early times was frequently called to adjust differences between his neighbors. He reared a family of 8 children, but one of whom, AZRA, one of the prominent business men of McConnelsville, resides in the county. Probably the first brick house in the township was erected by HOSEA ALDERMAN." Robertson's HISTORY OF MORGAN CO, OH. 1886.
I corresponded with an elderly woman years ago who was descended from Lucy Alderman's brother, Hosea Alderman. If I can find her letters in a forseeable future, I will send what she told me about Matthew. I'm thinking that she said Lucy died and Hosea raised her children because Matthew was gone, but don't quote me on that until I find what she sent me (Jan Sharp). Lucy died in 1823, leaving three children, 1 boy & two girls. born 1820, 1821, & 1823. They should show up in the 1830 census, about 10, 9, and 7 years old.
In 1845 Marion & Homer twps of Athens Co and part of Roxbury twp of Washington Co were added.
