Marriage
Anamosa Eureka, (Anamosa, Iowa( Thursday, August 9, 1934Miss Minnie Eiben of Central City and George B. Dirks of Monticello were married at Anamosa, Saturday. They were attended by Vera Walton, sister of the bride, and Elmer Dirks, brother of the bridegroom. The bride wore a white taffeta gown and a veil, and the bridesmaid wore a rose crepe gown. After the visit at A. Century of Progress in Chicago they will make their home in Anamosa. They are giving a wedding dance at the floral hall on the Monticello fair grounds Wednesday night, and one at Columbia hall, Stone City, Thursday night.

Death
GEORGE DIRKS, 77,of Springville,died Tuesday afternoon in his home after a short illness.Born Aug. 7, 1912, in rural Jones County, he married Minnie Eiben, Aug 4, 1934, who died in 1985. Mr. Dirks farmed in the rural Anamosa area, retiring about 10 years ago.
Survivors include a son, Floyd of Anamosa; a daughter, Marilyn Coleman of Springville; two brothers, Robert of Anamosa and Marvin of Springville; two sisters, Leona Taylor and Edna Bickford, both of Anamosa; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Wayne Zion Lutheran Church, rural Monticello, by the Rev. Gary Hatcher. Burial: Oakwood Cemetery, Monticello. Friends may call after 10 a.m. Friday in Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa. [The Cedar Rapids Gazette. Sept 14, 1898. p 28]
