Charles English, a member of one of the oldest pioneer families of Ukiah, passed away at Covelo Wednesday. He was 67 years of age. He leaves a daughter who resides in San Francisco, also the following sisters and brothers: Dan, Dick, Lou, Vinson, Wylie, Elizabeth, and Mrs. Nellie Hurt.
The news of his death was received yesterday by Mrs. Alpha Lane of this city, in a telephone message from Miss Elizabeth English. The latter, who has been teaching in the Sacramento valley, had been visiting Mrs. Lane in this city, and had gone to Covelo the early part of the week for a visit with members of the family there.
The news of Mr. English's death will be received with great regret by friends in this section. He was born and raised here but had been making his home in Covelo for many years.

CHARLES ENGLISH GONE
The community was shocked last Wednesday to hear of the death of Charles English after an illness of only four days from pneumonia, at the home of his brother Dan. The attending physician pronounced the case a serious one from the first and although everything possible was done, it seemed nothing could stay the dread disease.
The funeral was held at the Dan English home Friday afternoon, and interment made in the Covelo cemetery. Rev. Lippert had charge of the services. rs. Catherine Johnson sang assisted by quartet, Dr. Hogshead, Will Grey , Mrs. Ed. Long and Mrs. George Goforth, with Mrs. Amy Redwine at the piano.
Charles English was born January 16, 1861, died August 17, 1927, aged 66 years, 7 months and 1 day. He lived at his childhood home and birthplace near Ukiah until grown, came to Round Valley in 1887, where he was employed at the reservation headquarters for five years; leaving Covelo at the expiration of that time, he returned 14 years ago and has been in this locality ever since, most of the time being employed on the Johnson Bros. range.
He is survived by one daughter, Mabel, two sisters, Miss Elizabeth English, of Ryde, Calif., and Mrs. Nellie Burt of Sacramento; five brothers, Vinson, Louis B., Dan P., and Wylie, all of Covelo and Calvin M. (Dick) of Sacramento valley, besides a large number of nephews and nieces.
The relatives wish to thank their many friends for their kindness during this time of sorrow.
Mrs. Nellie Burt and her daughter Mrs. Ethel Graves and daughter, came in from Sacramento valley last week called here on account of the illness and death of Mrs. Burt's brother, Charles English.
Eldon English and wife an Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Saunders, of the bay region came home to attend the funeral of their Uncle Charles English.
Clifton English has returned from San Francisco where he underwent an operation some weeks ago for appendicitis. Clifton is looking and feeling fine.
