Notes
Marriage
(Monticello Express, Feb 25, 1909)Two brothers, Messrs. John and Gerhard Gerdes, the sons of Mr. and Mrs. Ricklef Gerdes, led two of Castle Grove's fair damsels to the altar, yesterday, the 24th inst. Mr. John Gerdes and Miss Myrtle Specht were married at the German Lutheran Church of Castle Grove by Rev. Nathar. Mr. Gerhard Gerdes and Miss Minnie Poppe were married by the same minister at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Poppe, in the presence of a small company of relatives. Owing to the sickness in the family of the bridegrooms' parents, these weddings were both quiet and unostentatious. These young people who have chosen to take life's burdens together, in a sensible way, know the value of labor and thrift, and they will be positive factors in the communities where they may make their homes.
