Individual Details
William Raven Mathewes
(6 Mar 1829 - 13 Feb 1905)
Was co-executor with Fraser Mathewes of his father's estate 1869 - 1879. He has a very detailed account of his expenditures and income from the estate. (see John Raven the elder for partial accounts)
He also was executor of his brother's estate, Isaac Holmes Mathewes, in 1857 and 1858. Among his accounts is a receipt as follows, dated Jan. 22, 1863, Clarksville, Georgia. Received of W.R. Mathewes through A. Y. Nichols Thirty dollars the said Mathewes unjustly refusing to pay in full my Bill against him of 28.50 on the pretext that said bill is extravagant. I utterly deny that there is any proper ground for such complaints but give this as a receipt in full thereby making said Mathewes a present of $28.50. R.G. Neely
