Individual Details
Jacob Lovejoy
(31 Oct 1780 - 6 Mar 1871)
Jacob took his family on an ox cart through the woods to the young settlement of Charleston. One of the stories told of him is that he was in demand at all parties as fiddler and entertainer. A neighbor, planning a party, sent a daughter with invitations to all the houses. When asked what was to be provided for the guests, she replied, "There won't be anything very good or nourishing but Jacob Lovejoy will be there." Evidently, that was sufficient (Lovejoy 121).
