Susanna, b c1760 (from ae at death): d Belgrade 8 Oct 1848 ae 88y (VR; g.s. Old Woodside Yard, Belgrade): she res Winthrop when she m Winthrop 17 Jun 1781 Joseph Greely of Winthrop (VR) as his 2nd wife, b c1750 (from ae at death) son of Moses Greely and bro of Seth who were "natives of Haverhill, Mass." (James North, The History of Augusta Maine [rept 1981], p. 96) [Moses's wife's name in 1773 was Mehitable (Lin Co deed 2:309-10)], d 1 Dec 1824 ae 74y (g.s., Old Woodside Yard, Belgrade). He had m (1) Vassalborough 11 Dec 1777 Thankful Sawtelle of Vassalborough (VR). They res Belgrade in 1796 (VR). In 1770, Joseph and his father Moses signed a petition which was "presented to the Legislature for the incorpoartion of Hallowell" (Charles Everton Nash, History of Augusta, Maine...[1904], p. 108). On 28 Jan 1778, Joseph, and early inhabitant of Farmington, signed a petition for the creation of the settlement on Sandy River (Butler's Farmington, pp. 29-30, 48). A deed shows that Joseph of Hallowell sold land to Seth Greely, also of Hallowell, on 7 Jul 1777 (Lin Co deed 2:465). He was "of a place called Sandy River" on 18 Jan 1791 when he mortgaged his land in Washington (now Belgrade) (Lin Co deed 7:323). He mortgaged 220 acres on Lot #13 in Farmington on the east side of Sandy River (Lin Co deed 18:157) and, on 19 Nov 1812, 120 acres (Lot #22) in Washington that were granted to him by the Plymouth Company (Lin Co deed 20:19) (Reynolds 147).
