Individual Details

Id Leroy Jones

(17 Jul 1873 - 13 Apr 1962)

Parents were Vid & Mary Jones and I.L. had two siblings, Willet and Emmett.

I. L. Jones was married to Emma Austin in 1903. They built a new house at the ranch for their home. They had two sons, Austin and Lester.

I. L. started a pure bred Angus herd, selling off the common ones as the others increased. I.L.'s Angus cattle were known for their quality both locally and nationally. Bar Marshall was judged the Grand Champion bull of the Angus beef cattle at the International Livestock Exposition show in Chicago in 1922. Many of his line were winners, also. Another very good sire that did much to improve the herd was Black Cap Brunas.

Mr. and Mrs. I. L. Jones sold out in the 1940's and moved to Watertown for two years, before moving back to Clark to the home his parents had built.
