John Bourne

(Abt 1707 - 1774)

John Bourne inherited his father's place and sold it in 1734. He moved about 40 miles into Culpepper Co., Virginia and settled on the Rapidan River. His new homestead was at that time a frontier abounding with wild game which was depended upon until land could be cleared and crops raised to sustain his family (Young 1).
