George Prouty

(7 Aug 1820 - 18 Oct 1888)

George lived a Shaker until he came of age. Then he went to Leonminster and after marriage settled in Fitchburg. At Shirley he learned the trade of shoemaker and was an excellent workman. He continued in that line of business until his death, making custom boots and shoes.
